In The Press

Courtenay is frequently asked to contribute to articles and features in the national glossies -  Professional Photographic magazines such as Professional Photographer and Pro Photo, and parenting magazines such as Prima Baby, Pregnancy & Birth and Mother & Baby magazine.
Courtenay has also been asked to talk at the SWPP’s 2011 convention, taking a Masterclass in Pregnancy Photography.

I caught up with one of the (if not the) leading British “pregnancy photographers”, Courtenay Hitchcock, to ask him about the rise of pregnancy portraits and his own approach to the genre – particularly his “Pregnant Pause” Babymoon packages.”

Photo Pro magazine

“With a strong reputation as one of the UK’s finest pregnancy photographers, Courtenay Hitchcock’s work represents some of the very best in fine art pregnancy portraits. He’s known for his instinctively graceful, sensual and flattering style, and women travel form across the country to have him capture their pregnancy.

Courtenay was probably the first in the UK to specialise in pregnancy photography, and his many years experience shows in his work – along with his very real personal understanding as a proud dad of four.

Relaxed and easy in his studio, a pregnancy shoot has a very calm and gentle pace. Courtenay creates a real connection with his pregnant clients, and this is reflected in the beautiful portraits that he creates.

We featured as the lead article in the ‘All About You’ feature in this months Pregnancy, Baby & You magazine.

“During your exciting nine months, your body changes dramatically, and while you might sometimes feel less than gorgeous, we think you should be proud of your bump! And what better way to celebrate your blooming figure than by creating a work of art?

The Pregnancy Photographer can help you remember this unique time with gorgeous photos that capture that curvy bump and pregnancy glow forever. After all, you’re doing an amazing thing – you won’t want to forget how your baby started life…

Pregnancy, Baby & You

I recently did a shoot for LittleStuff, providing some images for some of their reviews. A shopping features editor spotted some of the shots on the LittleStuff Blog, and requested to use them for an upcoming feature on wet weather gear in Mother & Baby magazine. The shoot was based around the red wellies, and this was one of my favourite images – having seen the magazine I was please to see that Mother & Baby have used it as a full page lead image for the feature :)

Mother & Baby

I got a phone call a few weeks ago from Professional Photographer magazine – I am used to requests for contributions regarding my pregnancy and wedding work, but this one was a surprise to me. The editor asked if they could use me in their regular ‘Day In The Life’ feature. Looking back at past issues, I saw this slot is usually filled with photographers covering exciting projects in exotic locations – family lifestyle shoots in the Dorset countryside seemed a little tame by comparison! However, they were quite sure that was what they wanted, so I of course agreed – I had a full day shooting children for RunningJumpingClimbingTrees coming up which we decided would be perfect.

The result is out in this months edition – and I was surprised to see a full 4 page spread!

Eve magazine reviewed our babymoon package in their July edition, which is always nice :)

Pregnancy photography is really becoming more and more mainstream these days, with a lot more photographers offering it as part of their services. The babymoon package is always a great weekend away for couples – especially first time parents, looking for a Last Fling before baby arrives!

I was pleased to be interviewed for a feature in the April issue of Professional Photographer magazine, discussing pregnancy photography. Whilst the article is aimed at fellow professionals, it is always nice to be recognised :)
