By now we all know about the Babymoon – the latest travel trend among expectant parents, becoming just as popular as the honeymoon.
It’s a way for a couple to get away for romance and relaxation before the new baby arrives, a way to spoil and pamper themselves in the days before “Pamper” gains a whole new, more mundane meaning.
But – if you were trying to plan one, where would you go? What would you look for?
I have been working closely with Relais & Chateaux’s Summer Lodge Hotel in Dorset to create the ultimate in babymoon experiences. As one of the UK’s leading pregnancy photographers (and myself a proud dad-of-four of course), it was quite straightforward deciding what a couple are looking for on the ultimate babymoon experience;
To be looked after, to have every whim catered for? To have a little pampering Spa time? Some really special fine dining? To enjoy something new and different? To gain a lasting and special memory of this incredibly precious time?
It took a while, but in Summer Lodge we have found the perfect partner to create this babymoon experience – and it has been worth taking our time over. Together, we provide all of that, and more. And as far as we know, it is the only 5* babymoon in the UK that includes a professional pregnancy photography session.
These “last hurrah” trips for parents-to-be provide a setting to relax and reconnect as a couple before entering (or re-entering) parenthood – and it’s a trend which is growing just as fast in the UK as Pregnancy Photography itself.
This is what one of our recent Babymoon couples write and told us…
Dear CourtenayI just wanted to write and thank you – the whole babymoon package was amazing from start to finish. Especially as a second time Mum, I was feeling that I didn’t have very much time to focus on the new life growing inside me; I have a boisterous, lovely toddler oozing energy and demanding lots of attention. This weekend gave me a chance to focus upon the whole family and the new baby’s place in it. We felt really special from the moment we arrived, every care had been taken to look at our individual profiles and adjust things accordingly. I had a lit candle every night on the bath edge at turndown, ready for my bath in the evening. Hot water bottles were put in the bed to make it nice and cosy. The chef came and spoke to me personally about what I would like to eat – being a vegetarian and pregnant! I had a lovely mum-to-be treatment at the spa and the weekend culminated in my thoughtful and sensitive photo shoot with you. I have to say Kris and I both thought you were exceptional with Morgan and frankly could have been Mary Poppins disguised! The refreshments were great for all of us, even taking into account the different tastes during pregnancy… you just put us so at ease, and we came away feeling wonderfully positive and bonded as a family. But also I as a pregnant woman felt beautiful again, which I had not been feeling at all. An awesome weekend – worth getting pregnant again just to have another one!Amy (and Kris and Morgan!)
